"There were two aspects to the early blues, the down and dirty devils music for Friday and Saturday night and the spiritual redemption, gospel tinged songs saved for the Sunday morning. A lot of people died young and didn't want to risk that this is all there is. James Ragbone captures the spirit of those early blues pioneers on his "Life In The Twenties" album. A voice honed on gravel goes along way towards capturing the sound, but it's the feel he has for his songs that really sets the album apart.
